Artist Statement Having taken up paintiing seriously in the late 1990s, I have rediscovered my appreciation of the compositional beauty created by light and shadow. My painting is somewhat informed by my graphic design experience, and not inconsequently also by the fact that I lost sight in one eye about 8 years ago. I go for the overall emotional effect rather than detailed accuracy. I don't talk about my paintings if I can help it, preferring that they speak for themselves and reach the viewer on a non-verbal level of informing.Biography Studied at The Art Center College of Design, Pasadena CA, receiving a BFA in Illustration. Has a BA degree from Smith College. Has studied in Italy and in the Connecticut River Valley with Eric Aho, and through the Great River Arts Institute of Bellows Falls, VT with Stanley Bielen and Doug Trump.
