Holly Compton Alderman
Artist Statement "I aspire to bring the glory of gardens and iconic sculptures indoors." I explore classical themes for their potential to inspire and transform contemporary imagery and awaken the viewer to the power of proportions and icons deeply imbedded in our visual culture. Hung across the grounds are my see-through silk and satin banners constructed through transparent layers of digital photography of sculpture, studios and gardens, using advanced digital printing. My design, to engage viewers in a unique and lively dialog with the spirit of the place. After the outdoor shows, the banners come indoors to be tapestries, curtains, framed art and wearable art. I am currently showing limited edition satin and silk banners at the Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site near Mount Ascutney in Cornish, through October 31, and at the redmondbennett gallery, plus my open studio October 6 & 7 (#49 on Monadnock near the Old Toll Road in Jaffrey).Biography Alderman is a painter and digital artist whose art and decor has appeared on This Old House, Dream House, and Today, and in New Hampshire Magazine, Occasional Moose, the Boston Globe, and on covers of Monadnock Magazine, Harvard Magazine and over 40 phone books.
