Alicia Geilenberg-Drakiotes

Artist Statement I am inspired by the world around me and try to convey the moment and the mood in my color choices, painterly marks and arrangements. Whether the piece is accomplished entirely on site or finished in the studio post outing, capturing and conveying a sense of place is my goal in my pastel and oil paintings.

I favor local landscape and work to ensure its sense of place. It is the mood and illumination I find evocative in these works. I find it important to incorporate a painterly style in my art, which adds to the depth and dramatic interpretation of my study.

I hope you do enjoy these works as much as I did enjoy creating them.

Biography Born in Worcester, MA and raised primarily in Keene, NH, Alicia graduated from Keene State College with a degree in Visual Communications (Art and Journalism). Her professional career took her in other directions, however in retirement she has concentrated on making up for lost time with numerous archived works and in progress pieces.

Alicia is primarily a self taught and self representing artist.
She focuses in the mediums of Monotype (printmaking), soft Pastel and Oil. Her expressive use of color and painting strokes gives much depth and life to her works in landscape, coastal studies and animal subjects.

Alicia shows in juried events throughout New England and has several solo exhibitions yearly. She also can be found instructing local classes focusing on specific subjects or methods accomplished in pastel and monotype printmaking in several local communities.
Alicia is an award winning artist whose works have earned her placements in both local and National competitions.
Her works are in private collections worldwide.
